IMMANUEL ~ The Gift of WITH - Advent Day 5

COMPANIONSHIP

Do you ever feel lonely, forgotten, overlooked, or ignored? The events, gatherings, and festivities of this season can bring much joy & delight, but they can also heighten a sense of disconnect, and remind us of pain - sometimes we feel most alone in a crowd. God created us to long for connection & companionship. As you walk through this season, when you find your heart yearning to be seen, to be known and understood - this is a good and beautiful thing. God wants us to embrace these deep yearnings and discover that He is there to meet us in all of our uncomfortable feelings. 

Jesus came into our world so that we might know Him as Immanuel, God WITH US. Jesus wants to enter your world and meet your deepest need. He wants you to know that no matter what circumstance you face you are seen and valued by Him. He has gifted us His Holy Spirit to live in us as our comforter, confidante, and companion - present in every moment and carrying our every emotion. 

Take a moment and notice, where do you feel lonely - on your own? What are you longing for there - belonging, acceptance, knowing that you matter? Sit with that feeling, and then turn your attention to Immanuel - what is He saying to you? What does He want to give you today? Open your heart to embrace His presence with you and receive what He has for you. 

“The Companion the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I told you”. John 14:26
