IMMANUEL ~ The Gift of WITH - Advent Day 9

SECURITY

What do you worry about? Where does doubt live in your heart? What are you afraid of? Insecurity sneaks into our lives in all kinds of ways. We wonder if we will make it, if we have what it takes, if we are enough, if we are too much. This sneaky feeling is shame - maybe there really is something wrong with me, maybe I really am broken, defective, or too far gone. 

What a relief to see Immanuel come right into the middle of our fears and doubts and say “It is finished, I did it.” God’s incredible and vast love is displayed in the arrival of Jesus, as He entered our world and took on the full human experience. He knows what this feels like. But Jesus didn’t JUST come into our world. He also went to the cross, took on our sin & shame, and once and for all secured for us a place in His family. Because of what Jesus did for you, you are absolutely secure. He has made all those lies and fears untrue. 

Take a moment and notice where you feel insecure. What is shame saying to you? Let that shame come into the Light of Immanuel, and let Him speak to your heart. What is true now because of what He has done? Rest in what He has accomplished, let your heart rest secure. 

“In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 1:13
